Early morning, you will be collected from your Hotel in Cairo by your experienced Tour Guide then transferred to a comfortable vehicle for your day trip to Alexandria.
On arrival in Alexandria, your Guide will take you to the ancient Catacombs buried deep below ground. A fascinating insight into the ancient burials of Nobles ranging from Pharaonic to Greco roman times said to be one of the only places where different dynasties were buried alongside each other. Take in the stories behind these ancient people and discover their lives.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, then on to visit the old Citadel, constructed during Greco-Roman times and known as the Fortress of Qaitbay.
It was built on the bay, looking out to sea as a strategic point for Roman forces to detect any invaders coming from the Mediterranean.
Finally, you transfer to the famous Alexandria Library, the original 'Biblioteca' from Roman times, which was destroyed by an accidental fire during the reign of Emporer Julius Ceasar. Sadly, the fire destroyed most of the crucial scrolls, which was a catastrophe as the library was known to be the most incredible place of academic learning in the world. Today, the library is constantly used by students for studies and is an extremely large construction visible from the coastline.
Now you will be transferred back to Cairo to your hotel for time to rest and relax.
