It is your wonderful opportunity to discover some of the historical sites of ancient Egyptian in Luxor, originally the old Capital of Thebes.
A two-day adventure gives you more than enough time to explore the best sites, including the gigantic Colossi of Memnon, protecting the Valley of the Kings, along with the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut sitting inside the Valley.
Including the two main early Temples in Luxor, Karnak and Luxor Temples, joined together by an Avenue of Sphinx. So, join us for a ‘once in a lifetime unforgettable memory!
You will be greeted from your Cruise Ship at the Port at Safaga by our experienced Egyptian Tour Guide then transferred to Luxor in a comfortable vehicle by road.
On arrival in Luxor, you will begin your fascinating tour with your guide to discover the an-cient Pharaonic history of Upper Egypt. Firstly, you will visit the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of the River Nile to stop at the Temple of Hatshepsut. The Temple was built and dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, the first-ever female Pharaoh. Here you will learn about this interesting Queen and her contribution to Pharaonic history. There will be an excellent photo opportunity here to take pictures of the famous Valley of the Kings along with discovering the past, including the findings of over 63 Burial chambers of Pharaohs and dignitaries. The re-nowned British archaeologist Howard Carter found the great chamber and sarcophagus of the Boy, King Tutankhamun.
Next will be time for lunch at a local restaurant and time to relax before moving to the last visit of the day.
Finally, visit the enormous two granite statues of the Colossi of Memnon. They were strategically placed in this spot as the original entrance to the Valley of the Kings. Time for some photographs before being transferred to your overnight hotel in Luxor for rest.
After breakfast at the Hotel in Luxor, you will be collected by your guide and driver, then taken to your first visit of the day to Karnak Temple.
Once considered the epicenter of ancient Pharaonic times during the Middle Kingdom, Karnak Temple is a massive structure of enormous columns, worship, and a village and sacred lake. Built and constructed of sandstone, it had many contributions over time from several Pharaohs to add to the Temple’s glory alongside the God Amun.
After your breathtaking tour of Karnak, you will have a lunch break at a local restaurant with time to relax before heading to the Temple of Luxor, at the City’s heart.
During the last decade, the original damaged ‘Avenue of Sphinx,’ which connected the Tem-ples of Luxor and Karnak, was rebuilt and now is a beautiful way to walk between the two Temples. Luxor Temple is somewhat different in its history from other Temples in Egypt be-cause it was not used as a Temple of worship to the Gods of Egypt. Instead, it represented a place where Pharaohs get crowned and suggested that Alexander the Great claimed to have also been crowned here.
It also has history from the Roman period, having once had a fortress surrounding it for the legions of the Roman Empire. Today, it has an old Chapel built as part of the Temple.
Finally, you will be transferred in your vehicle back to Safaga Port to board your cruise ship.
