Also, a fascinating visit to the temple of Beit El Wali, which rescued by the Polish archaeological team financed by a joint Swiss Institute of Cairo Project/Oriental Institute of Chicago. The temple was built on a symmetrical cruciform scheme and consisted of a hall, a transverse antechamber with two columns, and a sanctuary. The temple is mainly hewn from the surrounding rock, except for the front wall of the deep hall with its central doorway. Back to the ship to have lunch, the boat will sail to the Temple of Amada, interestingly the oldest of the monuments in the area. The temple dating from the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom and predates Ramesses II and Abu Simbel by about two hundred years. Then sail to Abu Simbel to visit one of the grandest temples in Egypt, that of Abu Simbel Temple. It was built on the West Bank of the Nile River, and between the two cataracts of the Nile, the Abu Simbel is one of the most recognizable and enormous ancient sites in Egypt. It consists of two temples carved into a mountainside and built by order of the great Pharaoh Ramesses II. Abu Simbel is no longer in the exact location as it was in ancient times. Following a decision to build a new High Dam at Aswan in the 1960s, the Temples were dismantled and relocated in 1968 to the desert plateau 64 meters (about 200 feet) above 180 meters west of their original site.
