Day 1: Embark Lake Nasser cruise in Abu Simbel - Visit Abu Simbel temples

Kay Trips' representative will collect you from your Hotel accommodation in Abu Simbel, or Abu Simbel Airport, then transferred you to your Lake Nasser Cruise for embarkation and check-in. Check-in at 1.00 P.M Following will be lunch on the cruise.
Your first exhilarating visit will be to the grand Abu Simbel Temple, built on the West Bank of the Nile River and between the first and second cataracts of the Nile. Abu Simbel temple is one of the most recognizable ancient sites in ancient Egypt. It contains two Temples carved into the mountainside and built by Pharaoh Rameses II (1303-1213 B.C). Today, Abu Simbel is no longer in the exact location of ancient times.
Following a decision to build a new High Dam at Aswan in the early 1960s, the mammoth task began to dismantle the Temples and relocate them in 1968 on the desert plateau 64 meters (about 200 feet) above 180 meters (600 feet) west of their original site. The area where they were initially located is now flooded. After returning from this unexpected visit to the Temple, you can enjoy afternoon tea on board the cruise with time to relax and take in the lovely views from the deck. Dinner onboard the cruise with an overnight stay.

Today it is located on an island due to the construction of the magnificent Aswan High Dam. Lunch onboard the cruise, then later you will join your guide to visit the Amanda Temple. The Temple of Amada was initially built by Pharaoh Thutmose III, who ruled during the 18th dynasty. After his death, his son Amenhotep II took over, and he continued improving the temple’s decorations and adding to the original temple. Later, when Amenhotep died, his successor, Thutmose IV, once again began to initiate several unusual changes, including adding a roof to cover the original temple’s open style forecourt. After finishing your day’s tours, you will return to your cruise, where later on, you will attend a cocktail party including a traditional colorful Nubian show onboard. Wadi El Seboua is now home to two New Kingdom Temples, the Temple of Dakka and the Temple of Maharraqua. Visitors want to explore all of these fascinating buildings and, therefore, tend to dedicate a whole day to the site. Most visitors begin with the famous Valley of the Lions, a Sphinx-lined avenue that leads to the older of the two New Kingdom structures. This temple was built by Amenhotep III and dedicated to a Nubian version of the God Horus. It is a rock-cut temple with a brick tower that remains intact. The courtyard and main hall still exist, and there are also some admirable paintings. Lunch on the cruise, then sail on to Aswan. Dinner onboard the cruise and overnight Aswan.

Breakfast on board your cruise ship. Later, you will join your Egyptologist tour guide to discover the Temple of Kalabsha, located within view of the Aswan High Dam. Kalabsha Temple will be the first stop for cruise travelers on Lake Nasser. It was another enormous undertaking as it was moved to its current spot from its original location about 30 miles to the south after the Dam's construction. The temple’s construction began at the end of the Ptolemaic Dynasty and was completed under Roman Emperor Augustus's rule. The result is an unusual and fascinating combination of imagery which includes Egyptian and Roman themes with images of Pharaohs worshipping the Egyptian Gods and Roman emperors—the temple dedicated to the Nubian God Mandulis. Later, you will disembark from the cruise, and our representative will transfer you to your hotel accommodation in Aswan.
